I’m not sure, but in case of sleep paralysis, the brain releases a substance that paralyses you during sleeping, in order not wander around and stuff, and I think it makes have hallucinations, which might explain dreams, but when you wake up while still having this substance in brain you are paralyzed and have hallucinations. But I’m not 100% sure still.
EDIT: this would also explain my condition. I don’t remember any dreams, never. And I have sometimes issues with getting up at night during sleep. The lack of this substance would explain it
