Answer: The glue gets its sticky effect after reacting with air (specifically oxygen or hydrogen?). That is also why badly designed glue bottles often have their entire bottle neck glued together, which causes people to struggle with opening them so often.

The inside doesn’t have any air in it, or better said not enough, so the glue stays in its fluid state there.
