It makes sense that bad tastes and smells trigger our gag reflex, but what in the brain triggers gag reflexes upon seeing something bad?

The sight of certain things or images has made me throw up before and I don’t understand how eyesight can trigger the gag reflex.

Seeing disgusting things make you mind think you could have been contaminated by it. Also, seeing someone throw up could make you think they are something bad and you could have eaten it to. One person pukes and every joins in just to be safe
