no fog cloth for glasses.

I walked past an optician that had a sign outside for anti fog glasses cloths I bought one and it works but i want to know how. I understand how sprays work as they have a something in them that stops the water vapour condensing but how does what feels like a normal microfiber cloth do the same. Not sure if it would be outside or chemistry so i put other as the tag.

Fog is microscopic droplets of water sticking to the lens. These antifog cloths and sprays apply a “surfactant” chemical to the lens to do either of two things: either make the water stick more readily to itself, or stick more readily to the lens. Either way, the result is that instead of water droplets which you can’t see through, you get a thin film of water that you still can mostly see through.

This comment will probably be removed as it’s not necessarily a top level answer. But did the cloth come with any product packaging we could look into? Even just a brand.

Im inclined to suggest though that it may be impregnated with some or other substance.
