The Nazca Lines were created maybe 2,000 years ago by people removing the top layer of dust and stones to create lines or patterns as such they are very vulnerable to damage.

Other lines are created by what are known as sailing stones. These are stones which are moved by the wind across a dry lakebed leaving behind a trail of where they have been a thin layer of ice forms on the surface which enables the rocks to move. https://youtu.be/cmWc200yMoQ
