When the wind blows over the sand neither the wind nor the sand are perfectly even. Ridges and irregularities in the sand cause the wind to move erratically. Turbulent air picks up sand in one spot and deposits it elsewhere. Eventually, you get ridges.

Go to the beach. Remove shoes etc, and wade a few meters out into the water. Look down. Exactly the same patterns caused by water streaming, and moving a few grains of sand each time. E.g. Turbulence

The Nazca Lines were created maybe 2,000 years ago by people removing the top layer of dust and stones to create lines or patterns as such they are very vulnerable to damage.

Other lines are created by what are known as sailing stones. These are stones which are moved by the wind across a dry lakebed leaving behind a trail of where they have been a thin layer of ice forms on the surface which enables the rocks to move. https://youtu.be/cmWc200yMoQ
