What makes the sound when your back cracks while stretching, and why can’t the sound be made again until later when it needs to be cracked again?

You may actually be re-positioning the discs between the bones in your spine. You can’t do it again until the discs have settled out of position again. I know this because I had to have 3 discs removed from my spine and the 4 bones surrounding them fused together.
