whats the science behind people with “high metabolism”? Where does the energy go when they eat way above their maintenance caloric level?

People overestimate how much food thin people eat, and underestimate how much they/other fatties eat.

You’re not monitoring your cousins calorie intake 24/7

You see him eat a big meal, and then he goes home and you don’t see him the next day, when all he has is a sandwich and some cereal since he isn’t hungry.

You see him eat a big chocolate bar every time you’re together, but don’t know that he only eats snacks on special occasions. He just likes it when he gets to hang out with you and treats himself.

Meanwhile, you forget about the daily 2L frappe mocha you washed down your frosted honey fruitloops that you had for breakfast before going out to the meal with your cousin because you sliced a few bananas into it so it’s healthy.

In the end, two people with the same levels of daily activity have very very very very minor differences in their metabolic rates.

Weight difference is entirely due to intake.
