When chips and programs went from 32 bit to 64 bit it was a huge leap forward, what is holding us back from going to 128bit?

I would also add as a small insight (beside the great technical answers) that this is an exponential scale. 64 bit is twice the size of 32 bit and 128bit is twice the size of 64bit, so it it 4 times bigger than 32bit.
Unless the development of computers and the need is also growing exponentially it might take more time to even want to get 128but after 64bit than to want to get 64bit after 32bit.
