This is going to be way over simplified because your question is a bit vague. Let’s take Thanksgiving dinner as an example since that’s most relatable for people. One of the hallmarks is a shit-load of not only calories, but carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are sugars, just linked together. The way the body handles a huge influx of sugars into the bloodstream is to release a lot of insulin. Insulin acts to “open the door” to cells so that sugar can flow into them for fuel or storage (fat synthesis). There are some foods that are complex carbs, like whole grain breads, that only moderately stimulate insulin release, then there are foods, like mashed potatoes or cranberry sauce, that are simple carbs and stimulate a HUGE release of insulin. As this insulin is working, you blood sugar levels go from very high to low relatively quickly. This is what you feel when you get tired and want to take a nap.

That’s called being made sick by what you ate. That literally only happens if you eat something you are allergic to or something that is spoiled.

If this is happening to you, start tracking what foods it is happening with.
