China has strict censorship of content in video games. Blood, gore, corpses, and certain kinds of violence and death are not allowed. The government also censors games that contain content that is critical of the government, authority, Chinese culture, and certain kinds of economics, as well as games that contain gambling or references to gambling, unapproved religious practices, superstitions, etc.

Whenever media becomes popular worldwide it goes through the process of “localization”. This includes translating into a local language, changing references and context, sometimes rewriting entire portions or story points to be acceptable and consumable to the audience in the way the culture sees is acceptable. Chinese media laws demand that localization change those aspects of a game to not include those deaths and blood.
