Why are Chinese versions of games have no blood or depict characters death differently to western versions of the same game?

China has strict censorship of content in video games. Blood, gore, corpses, and certain kinds of violence and death are not allowed. The government also censors games that contain content that is critical of the government, authority, Chinese culture, and certain kinds of economics, as well as games that contain gambling or references to gambling, unapproved religious practices, superstitions, etc.
