Why aren’t car-like 3 point seatbelts used in planes?

Seatbelts in cars are meant to restrain you in case of a crash. If the plane crashes, the seatbelt isn’t going to matter.
The purpose of seatbelts on planes is entirely to keep you attached to your seat, in case of sudden turbulence.
