Why can’t we just mix some extra salt with a bottle of water so we can increase our electrolyte intake?

Salt, or as it’s more accurately referred to, table salt, is NaCl. It contains sodium (Na) and Chlorine (Cl). It’s a specific salt.

Electrolytes are many different salts, including sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, etc. So while you can do this, you’d need to include all of them.
