Your brain maintains a level of a hormone called Leptin. As you eat, the leptin level raises and your hunger turns off. When you eat quickly, you are consuming faster than your brain can process the hormone so you over eat.

Some people’s brains have a hard time with Leptin production. Their levels are always low and that can cause them to legitimately feel hungry even when they have enough to eat. Its common in many obese people.
