We don’t really even have perception of time while awake too. We lack an internal mechanism that keeps track of time and our “perception of time” is akin to an illusion created from external observable factors and our brain’s love of chronology when it comes to memories, meanwhile while sleeping you can’t really observeanything external nor can you remember something that you can’t percieve, so there is no way for this illusion to form.
