Why do we instinctively want to rub/touch a bruise but not a cut?

Whenever we get a bruise, we instinctively want to rub/touch it. When we get a cut, it stings so we don’t want *anything* to touch it.
Why do we want to rub/touch a bruise but not a cut? They’re both injuries but what makes them so different?

simply, because it only took us touching a cut once to learn it hurts more to touch it and to NOT want to do it again.

It’s an irregularity. It’s the same reason we peel stickers off counters for no reason. Your body is so used to your skin feeling like skin that when you bruise or get a cut, it’s an irregular feeling and your mind gets subconsciously curious.
