Why do we keep sneezing and leaking from our noses when there’s dust?

The mucous in your nose is produced to keep the tissue from getting dry but also it’s a defence which acts to block bacteria or irritants before they gets to areas like your lungs where they could do much more damage.

Dust gets in your nose, and your body reacts by creating mucous to trap it. Your nose runs to get that mucous out of you.

If you’re after why dust in particular causes this it’s because it’s a lot of fine particles and things which are irritants or can trigger allergic reactions.
