8 glasses or 64oz is a rough estimate. some people need more, some less. but 8 glasses is enough so the average person won’t be dehydrated. when you pee, it’s not just water you’re peeing out. it’s also waste products, namely urea. nearly all your biological processes use water and your body stores a lot inherently, but it needs to be replenished. it’s like when you take a shower, if you use too little water, you won’t be able to clean effectively. if you use too much water, you’re just wasting water. similar concept here.
