Why do we produce a sound when we exhale from a yawn but not when we exhale from a deep breath?

When you yawn you are tensing muscles in your throat involuntarily in a way you do not normally do when you breathe. This causes tension on your vocal cords and throat which makes audible noises as it would. So when you yawn you activate your vocal cords which can potentially make a noise.
