This can be manifested for various reasons. One being dehydration, which causes your brain to “shrink” in a sense from the lack of fluid. The brain pulling away from the skull causes pain which is what brings on a headache. Alternatively, common migraines are caused by blood vessels dilating (vasodilation) in your head. The rush of blood flow in your head is what creates pounding headaches. Coffee may help these symptoms, because caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict.
