When sleeping, the body “freezes”, the energy stops flowing evenly. But if you sleep longer, some things that work in the body will be biologically biased with “freezing”, which is why you have a headache. By drinking some water, the headache may disappear, because the energy becomes liquid between 4 am and 6 am when we reach the ReM level of sleep – not dreaming – and it start to get firmer as the day gets brighter.

This can be manifested for various reasons. One being dehydration, which causes your brain to “shrink” in a sense from the lack of fluid. The brain pulling away from the skull causes pain which is what brings on a headache. Alternatively, common migraines are caused by blood vessels dilating (vasodilation) in your head. The rush of blood flow in your head is what creates pounding headaches. Coffee may help these symptoms, because caffeine causes blood vessels to constrict.

Dehydration is the major cause of headaches. Daily, 1.5-2 L of water should be consumed. If you sleep too long your cells in your brain dry up and the lack of head juice (cerebral fluid) causes the hurts relating to the lack of stuff things like electrolytes or necessary vitamins need to transfer cell processes.

If you are a regular coffee drinker, it is likely that you’ve slept passed the time of your normal “hit”, and are having a caffeine withdrawal headache.

circadian rhythm is a real biological process that works on the clock. your body gets used to your pattern of sleep. that’s why doctors suggest changing your sleep schedule by 15 minutes at a time, it’s small enough for the body to adapt to on a day by day basis. if you greatly exaggerate your sleep schedule you’ll wake up at the wrong point in your sleep cycle (NREM-REM) and feel funky for a few hours. and not the fun type of funky
