Why does a snake shed it’s skin?

All animals shed skin. We do so constantly whereas snakes shed theirs all at the same time.

One reason is because it doesn’t fit in it anymore. Unlike its body, its skin doesn’t grow with it so it’s like when you grow bigger and don’t fit in your clothes anymore.

It does it for the same reason that other animals do. It grew too big for it’s existing skin.

Now, a more interesting question is why to snakes shed their skin all at once instead of in patches like many other animals?
