Getting angry means making your body ready for physical things, like fighting. Every time you use your muscles, it becomes anaerobic (out of oxygen). To keep your muscles always ready, your heart needs to work overtime to pump blood and oxygen around your body, so you don’t faint or feel fatigued while in anger-fight-mode.

Edit: out of oxygen*

When you get angry, your body releases stress hormones, including adrenaline. This makes your heart rate and blood pressure go up temporarily.

Sometimes when we get angry we fight or punch someone. Or run away from someone who wants to punch us.

The heart pumps faster to provide more fuel (blood) to the body, so it can punch harder and run further (if needed).
