Why does the pinky toe throw such a hissy fit when you accidentally bump it into something?

Because when you stub your toe you are slamming it at 2-3 times your body weight. That and due to the small surface area of the toe, the impact has very little room to spread out so it is focused on that area entirely. That and your feet have many many nerve endings.

There’s another thread right now, ‘how does pain hurt.’ Everything is designed for a purpose/intent. Toes weren’t designed to smash into things. So, regardless of which toe, or which finger, or your head, if you jam it the wrong way (usually what I’ve heard it called) it’ll hurt incredibly or worst case break.
