So in my house we have a big fan, and when I put my face in front of it it’s hard to inhale, why is that?

It’s called “the bradycardic reflex”. It’s the reflex that causes mammals to instinctively hold their breath when their faces are suddenly exposed to water but can also be triggered by wind blowing in the face.
