So in my house we have a big fan, and when I put my face in front of it it’s hard to inhale, why is that?

Air flows from areas with more pressure to areas with lower pressure. When there is a fan before your face, the area outside is much lower than normal. This means that you would have to breathe with more force to get air through your nostrils.

It’s called “the bradycardic reflex”. It’s the reflex that causes mammals to instinctively hold their breath when their faces are suddenly exposed to water but can also be triggered by wind blowing in the face.
