When I cook sometimes I accidentally burn myself. But I don’t usually see a mark until like days later. Im black if that’s important.

Here is the process after being burned:

1. Burn injury: The high temperature damages your skin cells.
2. Inflammatory response: After the burn, your body initiates an inflammatory response to protect and repair the damaged tissue.
3. Blood flow and swelling: Inflammation increases blood flow to the area, which can cause swelling. The increased blood flow brings immune cells and nutrients to aid in the healing process.

After these you will see the burns mark. Your body takes time to give inflammatory response & increase blood flow.

Probably the outer layers of skin that were burned take that long to flake off and reveal the inner layers of skin that are slightly more pale than the outer layers
