How come we can hold on to our bladders WHILE ASLEEP better than when we were kids?

We’re always capable of it, your brain just makes it happen easier when you sleep since you’re not there to fight it by being awake and aware of stuff

Also, it’s a muscle. The older you get the more use it gets, making it stronger. Well.. ya know, until you get too old. But that’s a different topic.

As has been mentioned, bladders, or more accurately, the sphincter(s) that keep them from leaking are controlled by muscles. Muscles gain tone as they are trained and used, such as potty training when going up, and then essentially by reflex when your older. This tone, and the fact that you don’t fight gravity while in bed, helps us to hold our bladders when we are no longer children.
