How do animals perceive the continuity of a single being? Do they know that my right hand and my left hand are the same being? What about a group of people, do animals see them as a single thing?

They have too, I once taught my lab that a slap from my left hand on my hip meant stay and a slap from right hand to hip means come

Well, animals are not stupid. Yes, they recognize it as one being. It would be evolutionarily disadvantageous to not recognize this, so they do.

OP you think this ability only arose in humans? Watch any ape doc or hunting sequence and its obvious animals have intimate knowledge of other bodies. A chimp grooming a mate or a lion targeting a herd animal is direct evidence of this.
