How is CrossFit bad for us?

CrossFit is bad because it promotes working to absolute exhaustion pretty much every session, can lead to Muscle Catabolism and usually an injury because your body just hasn’t got the time to recover

Turning training for sports into a sport itself comes with the risk of people pushing themselves too hard.

A lot of times, and this is true for people outside of crossfit, they want to get better and stronger so badly so they try to get there faster by pushing themselves a reckless amount, and then they get injured and set themselves further back in the end than they’d have been by being safe and consistent.

It’s not just crossfit where this is a risk. But crossfit kind of encourages it by putting you in a competitive atmosphere and giving you hard targets to hit.

Crossfit isn’t inherently bad. If you do it properly by giving your body time to rest, maintaining proper form and technique, and keep an intensity that is suitable for your athletic level, it’s as safe as any other intense fitness program.

However, it’s easy for people to break form, or do something more intense than they should, and that can lead to injury.

CrossFit got a bad reputation in the beginning when proper safety measures, especially for beginners, weren’t in place. I started CrossFit in October of 2019 and have stuck with it. I’ve been free of injury and am in the best shape of my life at 32 years old.

Training through fatigue and not allowing the body to rest can lead to rhabdomyolysis which basically means the muscle dies and breaks down which releases toxins into your body and poisons you. This has happened to some famous cross fitters. Also CrossFit promotes reps over form which reinforces bad technique and many techniques such as kipping muscle ups put unnecessary stress on the shoulder capsule. There are far more effective and safe ways to get fit.
