Why do police officers bring out the fire department if someone they are arresting is hurt?

They are bringing out emergency services, which includes fire fighter/ EMS. They travel with their gear in case they get called to go elsewhere.
This is the same reason you see firefighters/EMS drive to the grocery store with their firetruck.
