why does shaking a champagne/fizzy drink make it explode when you open it?

In: Chemistry

As you shake it, the gas suspended in the liquid is released. This builds up pressure. When you open the top, the pressure is released quickly, taking some of the liquid with it (as more gas is trying to escape the liquid).

I don’t know if this is an acceptable answer form for this sub, but this Youtube video goes over it, if you want to watch a demonstration with his explanation: [https://youtu.be/K-Fc08X56R0?t=468](https://youtu.be/K-Fc08X56R0?t=468)
