youre not digesting it, its being absorbed and kinda messes with your bowels. it creates a situation which makes your bowels hold more water than normal. This triggers contractions as you’d experience with a normal bowel movement, but more aggressively. it just forces your body to shove everything out.

What happens is simple: When it enters your stomach, the pill is designed to be broken down. The stomach has a valve that will open pretty much immediately when food is detected, hence why so many meds suggest being taken with food(one of the reasons). When it reaches the intestines, it immediately enters the bloodstream. From there, it’s only a matter of minutes before the medicine reaches its intended destination. Most digestion is the body holding the material back to withdraw water and nutrients, diarrhea is proof of how fast the body can possibly push something all the way through the digestive tract.
